T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z1s getting a new update with WiFi calling

Xperia Z1s

Customers of the Sony Xperia Z1s on T-Mobile will start seeing an update, which brings some nifty additions to the fore. Although the Android version remains unchanged with the update, features like WiFi calling and free in-flight texting are packed with the update, which makes it worth your attention.

The free in-flight texting feature lets you message your loved ones from the flight to anybody on the ground free of charge. This feature is making its way to T-Mobile devices thanks to a partnership struck by the carrier and Gogo.

It is being said that Bluetooth functionality and camera on the device have also been improved with the update, which is good news. For those keeping track, the software version on the tablet changes to 14.4.B.0.56 after the update.

T-Mobile only recently rolled out the Android 4.4.4 update for the smartphone, so it’s currently running the latest build of KitKat with an Android 5.0 update expected to be on the horizon as well. The Xperia Z1s was exclusively launched via T-Mobile in the U.S. as a rebranded version of the Xperia Z1 Compact.
