NVIDIA Shield Tablet to get Android 5.0 on Nov.18

NVIDIA Shield Tablet

NVIDIA was expected to be rolling out the Android 5.0 update to the Shield Tablet sometime soon. Today, the manufacturer has revealed that the tablet will start receiving the update on November 18. In addition to bringing a complete user interface overhaul, the update will also bring access to NVIDIA’s Grid game streaming service.

Further, the company will bring an updated version of the Dabbler app with additions like stencils, layers, color creations as well as live streaming sessions via Twitch. Naturally, NVIDIA will also update the Shield Hub app with some Material Design elements in tow.

If you’ve been concerned by the lack of games, NVIDIA has announced that Half Life 2: Episode One from Valve will make its way to the Shield Tablet as an exclusive. The game has been optimized for the Tegra K1 SoC running on the tablet, so you can be assured of getting the best experience from the popular franchise game.

The Shield Tablet was launched a couple of months ago as an affordable and powerful gaming oriented tablet. And constant software support like this will surely make it an attractive proposition for potential buyers. NVIDIA promises customers that all future updates will arrive in the same manner.
