NVIDIA officially begins Android 5.0 rollout for the Shield Tablet

NVIDIA Shield Tablet

Owners of the NVIDIA Shield Tablet will be pleased to know that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device has finally started rolling out today. NVIDIA announced last week that the update would begin rolling out for the tablet on the 18th of November, so the update has arrived right on time. Some users are even reporting to have received the update a day early, so clearly NVIDIA has wasted no time in pushing the latest version of Android to its flagship tablet.

Along with the expected Lollipop related features, the update will also introduce some NVIDIA specific features such as GRID game streaming, an updated Dabbler app and the new and improved Shield Hub app with a new UI and some nifty features in tow. The company will also bring some exclusive content in partnership with Valve. Half Life 2: Episode One will be the first to be available from the Shield Hub for owners of the tablet. So if you own a NVIDIA Shield Tablet, Christmas has clearly come early.
