Google Maps has formally received the much awaited Material Design makeover today. We saw the Gmail app getting the update over the weekend, while the likes of the Play Store, Newsstand etc have already received the update sometime ago. Google has timed the arrival of these apps in line with the launch of the Nexus 9 which was only made available a couple of days ago.
But unlike other updates, Maps 9.0 also brings the addition of a couple of new features. The OpenTable integration means that users can book or reserve a table at the restaurant directly from the Maps app. Uber support has been baked in with the app as well which lets you get an estimated wait time for the ride as well as approximate details on the fare based on the route you decide to take.
The apk file can be sideloaded right away if you don’t want to wait for the official update from Google. Hit the download link below to get the latest version of Google Maps for your Android device. The app requires at least Android 4.3 or above to function, so customers running older builds of Android are out of luck.
