Second gen Google Chromecast reaches the FCC for certification

Google Chromecast 2

The Google Chromecast dongle has been widely successful since its launch last year. But as the device crosses the 1 year mark, it’s high time Google introduced a successor. And it seems like the day might not be far away now if a new FCC listing is to be believed. The second gen Chromecast with the model number H2G2-42 has landed on the FCC’s doorsteps, with what appears to be a very similar design.

It’s hard to ascertain the specifics of this device at the moment, but we should have more information in the coming days. Google has just launched the Nexus Player, which is its reference design for Android TV. It was widely believed that this would replace Chromecast, but clearly Google has other plans in mind. Considering the ultra low price tag of the first gen Chromecast, we can expect something similar from the successor too. What new features would you like to see on the Chromecast 2?
