OnePlus working on its own ROM for the OnePlus 2

OnePlus One

The makers of the OnePlus One are reportedly working on a new custom ROM for the successor, the OnePlus 2. This is expected to replace the Color OS ROM from Oppo which is seen on some variants of the handset. The company has confirmed that the new ROM will be available only in Chinese units of the upcoming flagship while the global markets will most likely get the CyanogenMod version.

OnePlus currently offers a variety of options to owners of its smartphone as far as ROMs are concerned, so customers don’t necessarily have to rely on just CyanogenMod. However, considering the sort of following the CM team enjoys, it’s unlikely that OnePlus will part ways with the developers anytime soon.

The company is said to have set up a development team in its research labs to get more perspective on where this new ROM is headed. This will most likely be based off Android 5.0 Lollipop which is the latest release of Android. We hope to get more clarification on this OnePlus made ROM in the coming months.
