Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact receive custom recovery

Sony Xperia Z3

The Sony Xperia Z3 and the smaller Z3 Compact is sparsely available in global markets. And now, the two smartphones have officially received support for a custom recovery (ClockworkMod) as well as root access, which should make the handsets more user friendly, providing the liberty to flash and install new custom ROMs. Needless to say, the smartphones need to have unlocked bootloaders for this to work, but that’s not much of a concern as Sony mostly sells devices with unlocked bootloaders anyway. You will have to root your device and install the custom recovery from the links provided below courtesy of the kind folks over at the XDA forums.

It goes without saying that the process involves some risk and you must only go through with it if you know what you’re doing. Considering that the Xperia Z2 and the Z3 aren’t all that different in terms of firmware builds, it’s no surprise that the developers have managed to come up with a solution already.
