Motorola no longer selling the original Moto X

Moto X

Given the announcement of the new Moto X a few weeks ago, Motorola has now decided to end the sales of the first generation variant. The company’s Moto Maker listing now asks customers to try out the second gen Moto X instead which is a subtle way of telling customers that the last gen model is no longer being sold.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t find the smartphone through other retailers though, but simply that you cannot find a customized version of the smartphone via Moto Maker. Heading over to Best Buy or a carrier outlet might fetch you the first gen Moto X in the standard black or white configurations. So if you’re really willing to get the older Moto X, there are still ways to get it. But it won’t be long before those variants go out of circulation as well since Motorola is trying hard to shift focus towards the newly launched flagship.

Considering the set of improvements that the 2nd gen Moto X brings, it makes sense for customers to consider this as a primary option. But if the older Moto X is being offered with a decent discount, it’s not a bad option either.
