The Xperia Z3 might be the device making headlines since its debut at IFA, but that doesn’t mean Sony has forgotten about the devices that came before its latest flagship. Today, the company has announced that the Android 4.4.4 update has begun rolling out to the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, and the Xperia Tablet Z.
The rollout follows the usual trend of Sony updating multiple devices at once (though these devices are mostly similar in terms of specs.) The update will bring the security and bug fixes that are a part of Android 4.4.4; it also features better battery performance for some background apps, enhanced email stability, and general improvements to the MMS, Calendar, Wi-Fi, Contacts and a few other apps.
The update will be rolling out over the air and via Sony’s PC Companion program, and those taking the former route can try checking if the update is available for their device by heading into the Update Center app. As usual, the rollout will be gradual, so don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t immediately show up for you.
