Sprint Moto X users getting Android 4.4.4 through a soak test

Moto X

Soak test invitees of the Sprint Moto X are getting an update to Android 4.4.4 starting today. This comes a few days after AT&T started sending the same update to the Moto X through a soak test. This indicates that Motorola is almost ready to push the final release of Android 4.4.4 to all Moto X units, with the testing phase almost complete now. So it is likely that the update will be ready for the mass rollout by next week, assuming there are no issues with the update.

It patches an OpenSSL related vulnerability left unfixed with Android 4.4.3. So it’s very likely that you won’t see any noticeable changes with this update. AT&T however introduced the ability to hide the carrier name from the status bar, so it’s possible that Sprint is doing the same with its version of the Android 4.4.4 update.

If you are a soak test invitee and have received the update already, make sure you let us know by leaving a comment below.
