Popular display maker Sharp just announced the Aquos Crystal smartphone earlier today in Japan sporting a very unique design and extremely slim side bezels. Usually, a smartphone which has been announced in Japan wouldn’t grab much attention elsewhere, but it’s different with the Aquos Crystal as the handset is also expected to be launched via Sprint tomorrow, according to several press photos published online.
Sprint has already made teasers for tomorrow’s event public, which clearly hint at the launch of the Aquos Crystal. However, the device might have a different brand name through the carrier. The Aquos Crystal packs a 5 inch 720p display, a quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot and a 2,040 mAh battery. It is said that the device will also have some Harman Kardon sound amplifying to give it that extra boost in the audio department.
The launch of this handset through Sprint makes sense considering that the carrier is owned by Softbank, which has worked in close quarters with Sharp to develop this smartphone. Although the device packs mostly midrange hardware, its design is going to be widely discussed in the coming days.
