According to supply chain sources, Google could be looking to unveil a 5.2 inch Nexus smartphone later this year. Earlier reports have pegged that the Nexus X will be launching this year sporting a 5.9 inch display. But Google apparently is also looking to develop a 5.2 inch smartphone that Motorola is currently testing. This could either mean that the 5.9 inch Nexus X could be replaced by this one, or that Google is working on two smartphones of varying sizes.
The latter would make sense, given how enormously the phablet segment has grown. Since phablets aren’t suitable for all, it’s only logical for Google to have something in the 5 inch territory as well. The 5.9 inch Nexus X is expected to be based on the Moto S, which features identical hardware but with some adjustments to the software.
So by Halloween, we could be in for a 5.2 inch Nexus smartphone, a 5.9 inch Nexus phablet and an 8.9 inch Nexus tablet made by HTC. It’s shaping up to be quite the year for Android enthusiasts and we hope to know more about it in the coming weeks.
Would you fancy a regular sized Nexus smartphone along with the 5.9 inch variant?
