T-Mobile’s version of the HTC One M8 has officially started receiving the Android 4.4.3 update as of this morning. The update brings forth a bunch of changes, which includes some HTC specific updates as well. For those wary of the OpenSSL related vulnerability on Android 4.4.3, HTC has included all the fixes from Android 4.4.4 with this update, so there’s no need for a separate update like the Nexus devices received.
After updating to Android 4.4.3 (build 2.22.531.5), users will get a notification for another update carrying a GPS related fix. We’re not sure why HTC or T-Mobile had to divide the two updates rather than bundling it in with Android 4.4.3, but it seems like something the carrier caught at the last minute.
The Android 4.4.3 update also refreshes some of the existing apps such as Camera, Gallery etc and brings enhancements to BoomSound speakers, Extreme Power Saving Mode etc as well. However, we doubt if anything will be visually different from Android 4.4.2
Both updates should appear as standard OTAs by now, so check the settings if you haven’t seen any prompts yet. The update is over 582MB in size, so make sure you’re on an unlimited network before downloading it.
