HP believed to be launching its own “premium” smartwatch

HP Smartwatch

According to a new report, American manufacturer HP could have a new smartwatch up its sleeve for the world. But unlike most new smartwatches we’ve seen of late, this one won’t be running on Android Wear, thus making it compatible with both iOS and Android users. The company is supposedly working with designer Michael Bastian to come up with the design for this smartwatch. The device is believed to be enclosed in a 44mm stainless steel case, with a circular timepiece similar to the Moto 360.

The smartwatch will also have a companion app for Android and iOS, allowing users to sync data and do a lot more. Like any other smartwatch, this premium offering from HP will reportedly be able to perform standard tasks such as reading emails, text messages and even responding to calls. Of course, it won’t be as seamless as Android Wear smartwatches, but the company is clearly targeting a wider demographic with this offering. The device is expected to hit the markets sometime in Fall this year, with no word on the pricing as of yet.
