The Sony Xperia M2 was launched in February this year during the MWC event. And it seems like the Japanese manufacturer is looking to launch a water resistant variant of the smartphone soon with the FCC revealing the existence of the Xperia M2 Aqua. Smartphones with the model number PM-0770 and PM-0771 have been spotted which are apparently variants of the Xperia M2 Aqua.
Hardware wise, the Xperia M2 Aqua should be quite similar to the Xperia M2 including the 4.8 inch display and the quad core Snapdragon 400 chipset, so don’t expect anything different in that regard. But the water resistance feature is quite a major addition on its own and will be heavily marketed by the company at the time of launch.
Since this is merely an FCC listing at the moment, there’s no word on when the smartphone will be announced. But an FCC listing usually indicates that a launch is imminent. Hopefully, we’ll get to know more about the Xperia M8 Aqua in the coming weeks. Pricing will be crucial for an offering like this and we’re sure Sony will be mindful of that.
