Prototype units of the Nexus 8 tablet spotted on Indian import database

Nexus 8 Render

It’s not the first time we’re coming across a leak of the upcoming Nexus 8 tablet. But this one is a bit too hard to miss. According to an Indian import listing site, Google has sent down two units of the Nexus 8 in separate shipments for testing purposes. The second listing goes as far as to mention – “NEXUS8 PROTOTYPE TABLET SIMILAR TO NEXUS(7)” in the description, clarifying a lot of our doubts.

It is also mentioned that the tablet costs 16,500 INR, which roughly translates to $276. This seems like an appropriate price tag for a device which is expected to be bigger than its predecessor and better equipped overall. The listing fails to mention the manufacturer of the tablet, so that still remains a mystery.

However, it’s too early to tell if this is enough to confirm the device’s existence as we have seen under testing devices going completely off the radar before. So having known that, take this new revelation with a pinch of salt. But if what we’ve seen over the past two years is any indication, we should have the Nexus 7 successor launching in the months to come.
