ASUS Transformer TF701T getting updated to Android 4.4 KitKat

ASUS recently updated the PadFone 2 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and today, the Taiwanese manufacturer has started pushing the update to the Transformer TF701T. The TF701T has been stuck on Android 4.3 for quite some time, but the wait for its users is now coming to an end, as they will get to enjoy everything the latest version of Android has to offer.

There is no official changelog yet, but according to a user from Spain, the update adds a Powered by Android logo to the boot animation, a requirement Google put in place recently in order to make Android better known to consumers, and it also removes some apps, including the preloaded eBook app. Other than that, we can expect it to have the usual KitKat features, including faster performance, better battery life, white status bar icons, wireless printing support, system-wide closed captions, options to select the default messaging and launcher apps, and more.

As usual, the update should be reaching more and more devices in the coming weeks, and can also be checked for manually from the Settings » About tablet » System update menu. ASUS hasn’t made the firmware files available on its website yet, but once those go live, you can expect the over the air rollout to increase in intensity.
