T-Mobile Galaxy S5 getting VoLTE update today

Galaxy S5

The T-Mobile variant of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is getting an update with support for its sparsely available VoLTE network. The smartphone joins the likes of the LG G Flex, the Galaxy Light and the Galaxy Note 3 among compatible VoLTE devices on the network.

VoLTE enables users to make high quality HD Voice based calls by using the LTE networks. The feature is only supported in 16 cities across the country, so not everybody will be able to benefit from this new addition. But it’s good to know that the carrier is making changes and adding more devices to the VoLTE roster as the days go by.

We can expect devices like the HTC One M8 and the upcoming LG G3 to be supported by T-Mobile’s VoLTE networks in the coming days. The service is live in the cities mentioned below:

  • Atlanta, GA
  • Austin, TX
  • Boston, MA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Dallas, TX
  • Houston, TX
  • Long Island, NY
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • New Jersey
  • New York, NY
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Seattle, WA
  • Washington, D.C.
