Well, this is a surprise. Sony isn’t exactly known for being very quick with software updates, but somehow the Japanese manufacturer has become the first OEM to start pushing out the Android 4.4.4 update to one of its devices. The Xperia Z1 Compact is currently getting Android 4.4.4 in Russia, Italy and Indonesia, ahead of the Xperia Z2, the current Sony flagship.
There is no changelog available yet, though the update probably won’t have anything major to boast about, since 4.4.4 itself is a rather minor update and centers mostly on security fixes. It’s good to see Sony decided to skip 4.4.3, and we’ll hopefully see the company push out the update to devices like the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z1 Ultra as soon as possible.
