Samsung Gear Live undercuts the LG G Watch with its pricing; will cost $199 at launch

Samsung Gear Live

Samsung has just made the pricing of the Gear Live official, taking us all by surprise. We saw the pricing of the LG G Watch going public just a few hours ago and Samsung has managed to undercut the LG offering by $30 which means that customers will only have to shell out $199 for the Gear Live.

Although there aren’t many differences in terms of hardware, the Gear Live comes with a dedicated heart-rate monitor like other Gear smartwatches, which gives it a significant edge over the competition. For the time being, users are only able to pre order the Gear Live and the LG G Watch, so there aren’t exactly a lot of options to choose from.

But if you were to decide strictly based on hardware, the Gear Live becomes an immediate choice, with the pricing in its favor as well. All Android Wear smartwatches are required to be IP67 certified for water and dust resistance, so this will be a common feature. Both the G Watch and the Gear Live are expected to arrive in the Play Store by July 7, so interested customers will have to make up their mind by then.
