The HP Slate 7 Extreme is now getting the Android 4.4.2 update after months of waiting. This is one of the many Tegra Note based devices launched in the market earlier this year. Although other Tegra Note devices have received this particular update several months ago, HP’s offering is only getting it now. The update will bring in quite a lot of visual changes as the tablet currently features Android 4.3. HP is not known for its timely updates, but considering that other Tegra Note devices have received the update long ago, we can’t help but blame HP here for the delay.
But users will seek solace in the fact that the update is finally here, bringing some much needed changes on board. For those unaware, Tegra Note is a reference design given by NVIDIA to manufacturers so that they can produce tablets based on their hardware. So the hardware pretty much remains the same for all Tegra Note devices, regardless of who produces it. But since the onus is on the manufacturers to provide the update, delays like these are expected.
This is only the Android 4.4.2 update with no word on the most recent build of KitKat arriving on Tegra Note devices yet. But since those are mostly bug fixes, compatibility shouldn’t be an issue.
