Google Maps 8.1 Brings Back Terrain View

We’re less than a month away from Google I/O, but they’re still updating apps. Today Google Maps has been updated to version 8.1.0 and it brings back Terrain view which was removed July 2013 when the app got an overhaul.

Terrain view shows the elevation of geographic features like mountains, hills, cliffs, and more, which could be useful if you are hiking or riding a bike. Terrain view is the only new feature though, there isn’t anything else here.

The update is being rolled out as a staged update, so it will take a little while for it to reach your device. You could also install the APK if you wanted to through from this link. But those of you who hike or bike, are you glad this feature is back?
