WhatsApp might soon get voice calling feature

A new leak has revealed that the much awaited voice calling feature might make its way to WhatsApp soon. The Founder of WhatsApp Jan Koum recently mentioned that the feature would make its way to the IM client but failed to give a time frame.

Today, a screenshot of WhatsApp’s dedicated translate page has leaked out which reveals three commands – incoming calls, outgoing calls and hang up. These are the commands that need to be translated in several languages, which in this case is Hindi. Translation of commands is usually a good indicator that a launch is imminent, so we might see this feature breaking cover before the Spring release date given by WhatsApp.

Facebook recently added voice calling to the Messenger app on Android, so it was only natural for WhatsApp to follow suit. The IM client is already one of the most used messaging apps in the world and the inclusion of this feature will only make it more desirable to the existing lot of users. This feature will reportedly make its way to Android and iOS first followed by Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices.
