Verizon LG G2 getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat through Upgrade Assistant

Verizon LG G2 Update

The Verizon LG G2 is getting the Android 4.4.2 update at last, but not in a conventional manner. The update is now available through the carrier’s Software Upgrade Assistant application for Windows computers. For the time being, this remains a Windows only affair so Mac users have no option to download the update unfortunately.

The update is a hefty 2GB in size, which probably explains why it’s being done with the PC tool, although we cannot rule out an OTA update popping up in the coming days.

To get the update, users will simply have to connect their Verizon LG G2 to a Windows computer and wait for a drive with the LG or Verizon logo to open in Autoplay or simply navigate to the drive manually. Beyond this, it’s as simple as opening the SWUpgradeLauncher app that you see inside the folder. This will then manually guide you through the steps required to get the latest version of Android running on your Verizon LG G2.

So if you own a Verizon branded LG G2 and a compatible Windows computer, give this procedure a try and let us know how it works out for you. Verizon’s support page is yet to make this update public, so there’s nothing in the form of a changelog as of now.
