Third party developers can now write apps based on the Duo Camera of the HTC One (M8)

HTC One M8 Camera Focus

HTC has just made the APIs for DimensionPlus and DualLens available to third party developers which will allow them to write apps that utilize the Duo Camera setup of the new HTC One (M8). This shows that HTC is willing to grow by allowing thousands of developers to use the refocusing effects of its flagship smartphone.

HTC’s Duo Camera basically allows users to make several changes to a picture after it is taken thanks to the dedicated refocusing sensor right above the main camera on the handset. So the availability of the APIs to developers opens up several opportunities for apps which can leverage this feature more suitably. You can head over to the HTC Dev website from the link below if you’re interested in accessing the APIs and working around it.

The camera is certainly not one of the strong points of the HTC One (M8), but this new addition will go a long way in exploring options to make it more entertaining and exciting for the customers than it is currently.
