Sprint LG G Flex getting Android 4.4 KitKat

Sprint LG G Flex

Sprint’s version of the LG G Flex handset is now receiving the Android 4.4 update, which is a couple of weeks after AT&T started rolling out the update. The bump to Android 4.4 will bring the customary changes on board, including some from Google and a few of LG’s own updates.

Sprint claims that the update will start rolling out today and extend up to the 7th of May, as it is being sent out in batches. Post the update, the software version will change to LS995ZV6. The changelog from AT&T’s update a couple of weeks ago said that the performance will be snappier post the KitKat update and the battery life will be bumped as well, so these are welcome additions.

The status bar icons will now be colored white which is a standard across all Android 4.4 devices now. Also expect to see a new camera shortcut in the lockscreen. The G Flex has been touted as a niche product with its unique shape and a relatively steep price tag. But LG will be happy with the adoption rate of the handset, considering that it was a relatively new concept for the mobile industry.
