Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play edition gets $200 price cut, now available for $499

Google might be working at replacing its value-for-money Nexus devices with a premium line of non-Nexus flagships running stock Android in the future, but right, the search giant is making one of its usually costly Google Play edition devices a bit more affordable. The Google Play edition Sony Xperia Z Ultra is now available for $449 instead of $649, after a $200 price cut that has went into effect on the Play Store.

The Xperia Z Ultra sports a 6.4-inch 1080p display, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera (without an LED flash, unfortunately), 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, stylus support with a pen or pencil, and a 3,050 mAh battery. It’s compatible with T-Mobile AT&T’s LTE networks, is water-resistant and dust-resistant with IP58 certification, and comes with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box without any of the modifications you’d find on the non-GPe Xperia Z Ultra.

Google is also offering free shipping, and the price cut seems to be permanent, so if you’ve been looking for an ultra large smartphone running stock Android, this might be the best option you’ll ever get. Head over to the source link to place an order if you’re interested.
