Google Play Now Sells The Nest Thermostat For $249

Rumors surfaced recently that Google would begin selling the Nest thermostat in Google Play directly to consumers. Now it’s official.

For those unfamiliar, the Nest Thermostat is a smart air conditioning unit. You can control it directly from your mobile devices and web apps. The nest also learns your schedule that you want, so if you’re gone during the day, it won’t change the temperature by sensing you are not present.

The Nest also sends you a monthly energy consumption report so that you know how much energy you are using. This can help you save a lot of money in some instances.

So the Nest is now in Google Play for $249. And since today (April 22nd) is Earth Day, every time someone buys a Nest, Google will plant a tree for you. That’s a nice gesture. Will you buy one?
