Some customers who expressed interest in Google Glass are now reportedly getting an email informing them that they can try out the device for free before investing $1500 on the Explorer edition variant. Google will however have a $50 hold on your credit card as insurance for carrying the device, which will be reimbursed once the demo unit is returned.
Google will offer all types of frames and five colors of Glass in this starter package which will give you a good idea of how it fits and what better suits your liking. However, one major caveat with this is that none of the devices will be functional.
Google has even destroyed the micro USB slots on the device to ensure that nobody is able to recharge and turn on the device. So if you think you’ll get a demo of the functioning of Glass with this promotion, you’re probably going to be disappointed. The Reddit user who revealed the following info however has said that one of the units was fully functional.
You can check out the terms and conditions of this new promo in the image below. This is probably available in limited units, so don’t be surprised if it runs out of stocks relatively soon.
