Philips launches two new Android powered TVs

Philips Android TV

Dutch manufacturer Philips has just announced two new Android 4.4.2 powered televisions called the 8109 and the 8209. Since these are officially approved by Google, they come equipped with Google Play services so you can download applications and do everything you would with a Google TV. These televisions come in sizes of 48 to 55 inches, so they’re not your standard run of the mill television sets.

While the storage is a paltry 2.7GB, the TV comes with support for cloud storage services like Google Drive and Dropbox out of the box, along with several USB ports. Philips claims that the televisions come with support for upscaling of apps to view in HD, while the native resolution is believed to be Full HD 1080p.

These televisions will be reportedly available in Russia first with a launch expected in Europe and other parts of the world soon, although Philips is yet to spill details on that. The company however has specifically claimed that these smart televisions will not be launched in the UK.
