After the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG’s marquee phone G3 is probably the most anticipated in the smartphone market expected to arrive in a couple of months and guess what? It reportedly boasts of a rugged all-weather cover according to a Korean News site and it just may come with a quite impressive 2K 2560 x 1440p WQHD display according to a new rumor.
The popular online South Korean news site ETNews that has given us accurate leaks and rumors in the past claims that LG is finalizing plans to incorporate a fully water and dust resistant feature to the phone to bring it up to par with the likes of Sony’s Xperia Z and other members of this family and the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S5 but it will be the first to actually out a device with a 2K screen resolution.
If this is true, LG will be the newest manufacturer to work on a water and dust resistant flagship smartphone that also has such a high screen pixel density. Samsung is expected to launch a new version of the Galaxy S5, a premium version with a better 2K screen before the standard version hits the shelves, the race is on, which one will claim the title of being the first to enter the market with a 2K screen – the S5, Oppo’s Find 7 or the G3?
Unconfirmed rumors published by the reliable tipster @evleaks claim that the source code of a device, presumed to be the LG G3, offers the WQHD display. The phone is currently still codenamed LG D850 and the premature teasing of the device’s screen by LG leaves us uncertain whether it will be the best phone or a glorified phablet.
The race for ruggedness on the other hand shows just how hot the race for the top dog in the smartphone and generally tech industry is. Since last year, even Chinese manufacturers often chastised for poor quality devices have upped their game and most are declaring their devices water and dust resistant.
What do you think about this new development?
