HTC sells over 50,000 units of the Desire 816 within 10 minutes

HTC might not be having a great time in the market in terms of sales, but its midrange offerings are still doing relatively well in some regions. Evidence to that is this new report which claims that the Taiwanese manufacturer sold over 50,000 units of the recently announced Desire 816 phablet within 10 minutes.

This 5.5 inch smartphone is priced at $310 in China, which has evidently caused a massive surge in demand. The smartphone registered great deal of interest during the pre-registrations earlier this week, and it’s good to see that some of that has translated into actual sales.

This demand has reportedly taken HTC and local retailers by surprise, who have now promised to replenish stocks in a couple of days by March 21. It will be interesting to see if the smartphone will sell equally well in other markets of the world.

The fact that its latest midrange offering is doing so well in a country like China will make HTC hopeful of replicating the success in Europe or even the North American markets.

  1. Wow! That is a very impressive number for an HTC device which is not in the One series. But good to see other HTC phones getting so much of attention and love.
