Heavy demand has reportedly delayed the launch of the Sony Xperia Z2

It seems like Sony has underestimated the demand for its newly announced Xperia Z2 flagship. According to reports from retailers across UK and Europe, customers who pre-ordered the device are being made to wait 2-3 more weeks to get the device. The handset was originally expected to go on sale in a couple of weeks from now on the 11th of April, but one retailer is suggesting that users might have to wait until the 1st of May.

Carphone Warehouse is claiming that the smartphone will be available after April 14, while Phones 4U is still promising a delivery/shipping date of April 11. This could easily change as more customers place order for the premier Sony flagship in a bid to be the first to get it.

Sony is yet to bring the Xperia Z2 to the U.S. although there has been talk that the handset might arrive exclusively via Verizon Wireless. Could this surge in demand affect sales of the handset outside Europe as well? We’re yet to hear from Sony on this, but we’re sure the Japanese manufacturer has some elaborate plan to meet demand appropriately.
