Sony Xperia Z, ZL and ZR getting a minor firmware update

Xperia ZR

Sony has officially announced a small firmware update for the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and the Xperia ZR smartphones earlier today. The update doesn’t change the Android version, so the smartphones will still remain on Android 4.3. The three smartphones are not quite popular as they are over an year old, but it’s good to know that Sony remembers its loyal customers and is rolling out updates on a regular basis to improve functionality. The update changelog doesn’t show anything spectacular, with a few improvements to Bluetooth connectivity and the battery life.

The update also brings improvements to the YouTube app available on the smartphones. The company gave away this information through Twitter where it was revealed that the Xperia Tablet Z will be getting the update next week. This is an OTA update, so you should have the notification pop up on your device shortly, but if you’re particularly curious, make sure you head over to the settings and manually check for the update.
