Ashton Kutcher to design phones for Lenovo

Lenovo Ashton Kutcher

When Lenovo hired Ashton Kutcher as its Product Engineer, we figured it was merely a gimmick by the manufacturer to get Ashton’s fans on board with the whole idea. However, the company is now claiming that Ashton Kutcher will actually be designing smartphones for them in the coming months. The Hollywood actor and sitcom star was expected to be involved in the day-today functioning of the company, but not in this fashion.

The CMO of Lenovo, Mr. David Roman said – “I know on one level, it sounds corny, but it is real. He not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants to solve it.”

It is said that Kutcher won’t be involved in deciding the essential details of the smartphone like the processor, camera modules etc, but his expertise will only be used in terms of design and user experience. That might not be a bad idea really and we might get to see a smartphone which the common man desperately wants. With Lenovo now owning Motorola, its expertise will come in handy as well.

  1. Is this part of Lenovo’s business strategy to tie up their products to celebrities?
It looks that way to me. I’m not an expert on Mr Kutcher but he doesn’t look a tech savvy guy like Steve Jobs at all.
