Verizon’s Edge Plan Lets You Upgrade Your Smartphone After 30 Days

The rapid growth of the mobile market has made it possible for device manufacturers to release different smartphone models in just a short span of time. This means that the phone that you got last month may not be the latest model that the company is selling. With most consumers wanting to get the latest devices, keeping up with the latest models is hard on the budget.

This is the reason why Verizon launched its Edge program. This allows customers to get their desired smartphone at no downpayment; instead a portion of the cost of the device must be paid every month. Initially customers had to wait for 6 months before they could trade in their devices for a new unit. The carrier has changed this and cut the waiting time down to 30 days. This means that if you happen to like a new model you will be able to get it after just 30 days without paying any upgrade fees.

A Verizon spokesman said that “this is currently a promotion but we have not set an end date. It is in response to our customer’s requests regarding this popular payment and upgrade plan…..While it is important to understand what our competitors are doing, Verizon makes decisions based on what’s best for both our customers and business.”

There are certain requirements to be met before customers can avail of this new Verizon Edge program. New customers will first have to pass a credit check. After 30 days at least 50 percent of the price of your phone’s price must be paid before you can trade it in for a new model. Prepaid accounts are not eligible to get this promo. The program also requires a two year contract with the carrier.

As an added bonus Verizon is also offering a $100 Verizon gift card when you when you trade in your device for a new 4G LTE smartphone which already comes with free activation. Some of the popular 4G LTE Android models to choose from include

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
  • HTC One Max
  • Droid Ultra by Motorola
  • Droid Maxx by Motorola
  • Droid Mini by Motorola
  • LG G2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • HTC One
