Samsung executive seemingly confirms the arrival of the Galaxy S5 at the MWC

Samsung Galaxy S5

A Korean publication has claimed that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S5 smartphone at the MWC event in Barcelona next month. The Head of Design at Samsung Mobile, Dong-hoon Chang allegedly gave away this information during an interview with this Korean publication. The revelation comes off as a surprise to us as Samsung usually likes to host its own launch events right after the MWC event is concluded, but it seems like the company might be taking a different route this time around.

The executive also reportedly hinted that the Galaxy S5 is a tentative name for the upcoming flagship, meaning there could be a new name for the flagship. It is also possible that this is merely a variation of the Galaxy S5 or the Galaxy F which has been rumored in the past. There’s not a lot of information beyond this right now, but we might get to see a new device from Samsung at the MWC, which is very good news. The MWC should also be host to the arrival of the Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch and several other midrange Samsung smartphones, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
