Samsung could be working on an NFC based mobile wallet service called the Galaxy Card

Samsung Galaxy CardAccording to a new trademark filing at the USPTO, Samsung has trademarked the name ‘Galaxy Card‘ for use with a potential Google Wallet and ISIS Mobile Wallet competitor. The trademark application was filed recently at the USPTO and is indicative of Samsung’s willingness to compete even with allies like Google. There’s no word on when this idea will materialize, but given Samsung’s vast experience in the software and hardware business, we can expect the Galaxy Card to make its way to the markets soon. An announcement during the MWC event in February cannot be ruled out. With the ISIS Mobile payment system is catching sufficient steam and Google Wallet already well established among Android users in the U.S., the idea of a third alternative isn’t bad. Considering the marketshare Samsung enjoys in the mobile market, the Galaxy Card could be something to look forward to. But as with any early report, we have to wait until Samsung makes the service official as this is merely a trademark application at this point.
