Samsung blocks access to third party cases for the Galaxy Note 3 with the KitKat update

Galaxy Note 3 - S-View

With the Android 4.4 KitKat update, users of the Galaxy Note 3 will notice a very unexpected change. Third party accessories will no longer function with the Galaxy Note 3 after the Android 4.4 update. However, root users have a way to evade this with some under the hood tweaking. But those relying on third party substitutes of popular (and expensive) Samsung cases will be bound for disappointment.

It is possible that the Galaxy Note 3 requires a special identification chip for cases and accessories to work, which explains why Samsung accessories are still compatible with the Galaxy Note 3. What this means is that third party manufacturers will have to pay licensing fees to Samsung so that they can use the identification chip for compatibility with the smartphone.

Root users can download the Xposed framework tool and the corresponding apk file through the links provided below and follow the instructions closely. But if you’re not comfortable with rooting, the only workaround for now will be to stay away from the Android 4.4 update.
