Paranoid Android 4+ Beta 3 Gets Immersive Mode, Quick Settings And More

One of the best custom ROMs available for Android devices is Paranoid Android and just recently the team responsible for its development has announced the release of PA4+ Beta 3. One of the best features of PA is its way of receiving new notifications called Halo. The release of Beta 3 brings several equally excellent features such as customizable dual tiles in the quick settings dropdown, improvements in immersive mode, on the spot preferences dialogs, and various tweaks and bug fixes.

The team is working hard to bring KitKat to this custom ROM with the first beta released last Christmas (2013) and the second beta released last January 13. The recent release of Beta 3 contains the largest set of new features so far.

AOSPA 4.0 Beta 3 Key Features

  • Quick settings 3.0
  • Maximize lockscreen widgets
  • Fix bug with rotation lock tile
  • Fix network tiles for CDMA devices
  • Fix graphical glitches on galaxy nexus
  • Update AOSP dialer icon to Google dialer icon
  • Separate device encryption password from lockscreen password
  • Contextual “on-the-spot” preference dialog (first implementation: Quick settings pull down)
  • AOSP dialer check (removes features that rely on AOSP dialer if Google dialer is installed)

For those who will install his new release the first thing that you will notice is that it now has a new boot animation. This was chosen by combining two submissions in the PA community.

One interesting feature that’s available is called “On-the-spot” preferences dialogs. This allows users to easily set an option from a related function instead of searching from it deep within the menu settings. This saves a lot of time and is very convenient to use.

The Dual Tiles in quick settings allows users to flip the tiles to reveal more options. So for example in the Bluetooth tile a user can flip it to access more settings such as making the device discoverable. As of now the only settings that can take advantage of this feature are Data connection, WiFi, Location, Bluetooth, and Sleep.

Users can also configure the Immersive mode so that it hides only the status bar, the navigation bar, or both.

Paranoid Android 4+ Beta 3 is now available for download for the following devices

  • Galaxy Nexus
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 7 (both versions)
  • Nexus 10
  • Nexus 5
