LG believed to be testing Android 4.4 on the Optimus G and the Optimus G Pro

Optimus G - Android 4.4LG is reportedly testing Android 4.4 KitKat on two of its older flagships – the Optimus G Pro and the Optimus G according to a new leak by Phone Arena. There’s no confirmation from LG of this at this point, but we’re not surprised with the move given that the smartphones were at one point the best devices available in the market. The Optimus G went on to be used as a reference design for the widely successful Nexus 4 while the Optimus G Pro was one of the first 1080p phablets (from a major manufacturer) in the market last year.

Phone Arena was able to access a couple of user agent profiles revealing model numbers of the two smartphones and its variants. It is about time that LG rolls out the Android 4.4 update to its smartphones, but we feel the LG G2 flagship will be the first to get the update by the end of this month as reported earlier last week. So users of the Optimus G and the Optimus G Pro might have to do a bit of waiting. With manufacturers customizing their UI drastically with Android 4.4, we certainly can’t wait to see what LG has in store with Android 4.4. It is claimed that LG will update many of its smartphones directly from Android 4.2.2, skipping Android 4.3 in the process, so the day might not be far away for these older handsets.
