Verizon Galaxy S4 Mini gets Galaxy Gear support with the Android 4.3 update

Galaxy S4 Mini VerizonThe Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini on Verizon is getting an update to Android 4.3, along with support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch as expected. So it’s a pretty major update for the handset. Also bundled with the update are some customary bug fixes, a new set of bloatware apps as Verizon usually likes to add and some improvements to ISIS Mobile Wallet as well as 4G LTE connectivity on the smartphone. The update can be downloaded manually by hitting the Settings menu and navigating to About Phone and then tapping System Updates.

Since this is the Android 4.3 update (build VRUAMK5) there are some Samsung specific tweaks involved as well. So it is advised to remain on a Wi-Fi network before downloading the update, just to be safe. The Galaxy S4 Mini isn’t a popular smartphone by any means, but is still one of Samsung’s supported devices of the year. The Galaxy S3 Mini from last year is almost non-existent in the market now and we can expect the Galaxy S4 Mini to see the same fate in about six months.
