Sony’s first flagship of the year, the Xperia Z could be getting the Android 4.3 update tomorrow on the 19th of December according to a leak uncovered by Xperia Blog. Sony appears to have mistakenly put up details regarding the Android 4.3 update of the smartphone briefly on its website before being taken down subsequently. The update will reportedly carry the firmware version number 10.4.B.0.569 as the screenshot suggests. The official ROM was available for flashing earlier last week, so it was only a matter of time before Sony began the rollout.
Users of the Xperia Z are concentrated heavily in Europe and Asia as American carriers except T-Mobile currently do not offer any Sony handsets. But given the popularity of Sony devices world over, this update is very significant and a show of faith for its users. With Android 4.3 rolling out now, we can expect Android 4.4 KitKat to start hitting Sony devices in late January or February, but users can be assured that an update is on the horizon. The Sony Xperia Z sports a 1080p 5 inch display, a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, a 13MP camera, 2GB of RAM, a fully water resistant body and a 2,330 mAh battery.
