Samsung HomeSync now supports multiple non-Samsung devices

Samsung HomeSyncSamsung recently launched the HomeSync media streaming device in the U.S. with a relatively steep $300 price tag. While the device offered plenty of useful features like cloud streaming and 1TB of storage for up to 8 members of a family, it lacked compatibility with non-Samsung smartphones. This was a major hindrance for people using HTC, LG or Sony devices. And Samsung has heard their concerns as it has issued a new update to HomeSync app on the Play Store which brings compatibility with some HTC, LG and Sony handsets. The list includes:

  • HTC One
  • HTC Butterfly
  • LG Optimus G Pro
  • LG Nexus 4
  • Sony Xperia Z
  • Sony Xperia ZL
  • Sony Xperia SP

This is a very minor but crucial update for HomeSync and Samsung can now expect sales to slightly improve with the compatibility increased. However, this media streaming device hasn’t been heavily marketed like other Samsung devices, so we’re not sure if most people even know this exists. But with the holidays approaching quickly, we can expect Samsung to start a rigorous marketing campaign to push the sales of this device. You can head over to the Play Store to download the app if you own a compatible handset.
