Samsung started sending out the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S4 to American carriers more than two months ago. However, the carriers have taken their sweet time in rolling out the update to their respective variants. One such carrier is Cricket Wireless which has now started seeding the update with the usual suite of features and Samsung specific apps. Users can expect to see a couple of changes to TouchWiz along with the heavily hyped compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. There are several other changes which make its way with the last of the Jelly Bean updates as you can see from the changelog below:
- Knox support
- Gear support
- 3rd party app update (Cricket, Navigator, Data, Connect)
- Changed method of “hidden menu enable”
- PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation) mode has been implemented to prevent from any abnormal behavior such as lock-up or PMIC damage
The update is rolling out as an OTA to Galaxy S4 handsets on Cricket Wireless and should most likely have hit all smartphones by now. But in any case, it shouldn’t take longer than two days for the update to reach all devices.
