Samsung Galaxy S3 on Cricket Wireless getting the Android 4.3 update

Galaxy S3Cricket Wireless is now rolling out the Android 4.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone just a day after the Galaxy S4 received the update. It’s slightly odd that Cricket Wireless is rolling out updates for two flagships one after the other, as we don’t often see such instances in the mobile industry. But given that Cricket Wireless isn’t a major carrier and doesn’t have a lot of users, this isn’t very surprising. The update should have already begun hitting smartphones and if it hasn’t, an OTA should be on its way soon. The update is 569MB in size, so make sure you’re on a Wi-Fi network if you’re unwilling to lose mobile data. Be on the lookout for firmware version – R530CVVUCMK3.

The update brings the usual suite of changes, with the most prominent change being the compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The Galaxy S3 joins the exclusive list of Samsung smartphones to be compatible with Galaxy Gear with the Android 4.3 update. Several other performance upgrades and bug fixes are on board as well, along with a slightly touched up version of TouchWiz.
