Indian winners of the Nestle KitKat contest were given an old Nexus 7 instead of the 2013 Nexus 7 as endorsed in the contest. This obviously caused a major public uproar which has now caused Nestle India to promise to replace all old Nexus 7 units with the 2013 Nexus 7 for the contest winners. This is certainly good news and it seems like the social media has played a major role in this. For Nestle, it’s a matter of brand image, so it’s in damage control mode so that the reputation is not further tarnished.
Nestle India cannot discard this as an unintentional error as its official Twitter page gave out a detailed explanation as to why the 2012 Nexus 7 was offered instead of the new ones. However, it’s all put to rest now and Nestle India will contact the contest winners soon with more details on how to get their hands on the new Nexus 7. All said and done, it’s very commendable of Nestle to make this quick turnaround and provide users with a new Nexus 7.
