Samsung issues statement on the delay of the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3

The Samsung Galaxy S3 should have started getting the Android 4.3 update right about now, but some unforeseen delays have temporarily halted the process. For most devices, Android 4.3 is merely an incremental upgrade. But for the Galaxy S3, this was supposed to bring support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, so it is a pretty major update.

And now, Samsung UK has issued a brief statement acknowledging the delay in the rollout of the update. “As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended. We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility.”

The update reportedly has several functionality related issues which has forced Samsung to take this step. Samsung also cancelled the update for the AT&T Galaxy S4 yesterday, so the issue could be widespread. Samsung has mentioned that the update for the Galaxy S III will begin at the “earliest possibility”, but hasn’t specified when, so the users might have to do a bit of waiting.
