Samsung adds SMS/MMS support to the ChatOn app on Android

ChatOnSamsung has just added SMS/MMS support for the ChatOn app on Android. This is quite similar to what Google did with the Hangouts app which used to be a client for Google Talk, but it can now handle SMS and MMS as well. For the time being, SMS integration on Samsung ChatOn is only available in Brazil and Germany, so we’re not very sure if Samsung will look to roll this out to other parts of the world. ChatOn basically lets users with other Samsung devices connect with each other, similar to Apple’s iMessage. And Samsung will hope to increase adoption with the integration of SMS and MMS. The new ChatOn functions much like the Hangouts app as it merges SMSes and Instant Messaging chats under one app.

This app comes by default on most Samsung smartphones, so Samsung has tried its level best to increase marketshare right from the start. However, the app is also available on the Play Store for non-Samsung devices as well, so its reach is not very limited. Head over to the link below to give Samsung ChatOn a try on your Android smartphone.
