Project S smartphone goes up on IndieGoGo with a $5 million funding goal

Project S

Indiegogo usually sees a lot of projects and campaigns going up for funding requirements. One such campaign which recently went up is Project S by Taiwanese manufacturer BungBungame. This developer house came into existence back in 2008 and is renowned for its apps as well as budget tablets launched in Taiwan over the past few years. However, the team is taking a huge leap with a high end flagship smartphone called Project S. This smartphone has all the makings of a superior smartphone and the pricing is set at a respectable $299 with international shipping at $30. The team has set a funding goal of $5 million for this smartphone, with over 55 days still left.

We’re not too positive if the campaign will reach its funding goal, but it’s clear that the smartphone has the legs to make it big. The specs sheet suggests a 5.8 inch 2560×1440 resolution display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a true octa core chipset (possibly MediaTek), a 16MP camera and IP57/IP58 certification for water and dust resistance. That’s quite an impressive hardware sheet, but the expected launch date has us concerned. According to BungBungame, the smartphone won’t start shipping until November 2014. That’s exactly an year from now when we will have a plethora of flagships out in the wild. So we’re not sure if BungBungame has thought this out completely, but the delay certainly sounds like a deal braker. Head over to the source link below to pledge support for the project.
